Try, Try Again

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it. – W.C. Fields

As a wise man once said, a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet, so, what is in a name, how important is it, why does it matter? The truth is that our name can define us or, can simply be a label. Would Reginald Dwight have become the superstar that Elton John became? Would Kathryn Hudson have roared as loudly as Katy Perry and would Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta have become as memorable as Lady Gaga.

A different name, yes; but the same talent and the same person behind the name. It says something about what you do, or maybe something about what you’ve done, sometimes good sometimes not so good. Sometimes funny and sometimes sad, the name we carry through our lives is our entry card to the World, it is something we need to protect and something we want others to remember. Could your name become part of the everyday language, could you lead the life of Riley, could Bob be your Uncle, or will you be as happy as Larry. Your name is important because it is tied to your history, it can become tethered to your reputation, and can even enhance your future.

The time and deliberation we go through, deciding on a name for our new addition and the importance we place on it should never be underestimated, because for most of us, we have it for life.

So, ensure your Naming Day Ceremony recognises the significance of the occasion and celebrates your brand new bundle of joy, with a memorable event, delivered with love
